Set within 21 acres of Lake District countryside, Gilpin Hotel is known for its refined, calm, and luxury guest experience. As part of the hotel’s expansion, Burning Desires was involved in the development of five new Spa Lodges, each designed as a private, high-end retreat.
Our role was to support the interior design team by specifying and supplying fireplaces that felt at home in the lodges while meeting the practical demands of a luxury hospitality setting.
The brief
Each Spa Lodge required a fireplace that would act as a focal point without disrupting the spa-like atmosphere of the space. Consistency across all five lodges was important, as was finding a solution that combined visual impact with reliable performance.
The brief focused on:
- Contemporary fireplace with real flame
- Design that could be experienced from multiple angles
- A consistent look and finish across all lodges
Our approach
Burning Desires was involved from the early design stage to help choose a fireplace that would look right in the space and work well for guests. For each Spa Lodge, a three-sided glass gas fire was selected so the flame could be enjoyed from different areas, creating a warm, relaxing focal point throughout the lodge.
The fires run on LPG and were built into custom feature breasts and hearths, so they feel like a natural part of the lodge rather than something added later. The end result is a fireplace that adds comfort and atmosphere, helping guests feel relaxed and at home during their stay.
With five lodges involved, consistency mattered. Each fireplace was delivered with the same level of care and attention to detail, creating a harmonious look and feel across the resort.
